THE QUESTION

The people behind code work through teams, laboratories, communities and institutions.

RESEARCH NOTES / OPENING EDITIONNOT AN EXHAUSTIVE SURVEY
03.01 / RESEARCH FRAME

Evidence for participation

Authorship, maintenance, employment, funding, correspondence and informal advice are not interchangeable roles. Each claimed relationship should cite a document with the role, time and scope.

03.02 / RESEARCH FRAME

A network is not a ranking

Dense connections can reflect surviving archives, language, digitization and whose projects were widely reported. Network centrality is not a reliable proxy for contribution or significance.

03.03 / RESEARCH FRAME

Missing contributors deserve care

A missing person may reflect incomplete records rather than absence of involvement. The evidence submission process lets readers add underrepresented contributors with sources and context.

CONTRIBUTE A DOCUMENTED FINDING

Submit a verifiable relationship between a person, team and project with date and role.
